Atlanta Falcons trade option #1

The first trade is the simplest and the most likely if a team is able to do the impossible and pry Lamar out of Baltimore. Atlanta sends their next three first-round picks as well as valuable day-two picks in exchange for the quarterback. The biggest problem with this deal is obvious in that it leaves Atlanta with zero first-round picks for three years and without the cap space to build a complete roster after signing Lamar to the deal he will demand.

Atlanta would be instant division favorites and have a chance to win a weak NFC. However, the goal is to build a complete team capable of winning Atlanta’s first Super Bowl. It is hard to see that happening if the Falcons are forced to give up their next three first-rounders as well as valuable day two and three picks.

Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith have proven themselves adept at drafting and adding impact players in both of their first two seasons.  Lamar would be a monster in Arthur Smith’s offense but if Atlanta lacks the picks or cap space to fix the defense how far could they really go?
