For all of the chaos that ensued during and immediately after the Atlanta Falcons released their initial 53-man roster. But at the epicenter of all of it was the quarterback situation, as Atlanta opted to keep four quarterbacks on their active roster, which includes undrafted rookie standout Jack Strand.
And while the fanbase is elated that Strand isn't going anywhere after his breakout summer, things can change on a dime in this business. It's called an initial roster for a reason, and it would be truly shocking if the Falcons didn't make any major shakeups to their roster before their Week 1 matchup.
As of right now, Strand is the QB4 behind Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix Jr. and Cooper Rush, but the Falcons didn't want to risk him getting claimed off waivers by another team or getting poached off the practice squad. But it would be truly shocking if they keep all four signal-callers come Week 1.

Given all of the roster gymnastics that is going to follow, one of Rush, Strand, or possibly even Tagovailoa would be on the move. And while the most logical decision would be to cut or trade Rush, but given he's the vet of the room and was QB3 all summer, I'm not sure how likely his release truly is.
And that could come at the expense of the new fan favorite. The Passtronaut clearly has the tools, the command of the offense, and the potential to be great, but he's still very much a work in progress- and Kevin Stefanski and this coaching staff should be well aware the UDFA needs more development.
What the Dirty Birds could do is try and sneak the 22-year-old onto their practice squad while nobody is paying attention, but that's risky. That leads the same risk of him getting poached off the P-Squad, but given waivers starts at 1:00 p.m. ET, there isn't much time for the front office to make a decision.
The Minnesota State-Morehead product has proven himself worthy of a roster spot, but roster construction may not play into his favor. The Falcons have three edge rushers and two running backs on their initial roster, and once they make a corresponding move, QB and DB is likely to be addressed.
Unless the Atlanta Falcons are planning on keeping four quarterbacks through Week 1, which seems unlikely, just because Jack Strand made the initial 53-man roster doesn't mean he'll stay there--so for a guy who's story is all about defying the odds, hopefully he doesn't fall victim to another move.
