Roster release day is one of the wildest days in the NFL world, and the Atlanta Falcons ever since they struck the Gervon Dexter trade with the Bears early this morning. And ever since, it's been a whirlwind of roster cuts which has seen several fan favorites get the axe--while others stuck around.

The Falcons embarked on their first cut day with the new regime, and now that the 6:00 p.m. deadline has passed, the team has officially released their initial 53-man roster. And I say official because nothing is final yet, as a lot can change as they make corresponding moves in the next couple days.

Kevin Stefanski and Ian Cunningham were forced to make some difficult decisions whittling down this 90-man roster to just 53, which saw some surprise releases take shape. But now that we know what this roster looks like, let's let you all know...

What the Atlanta Falcons' initial 53-man roster looks like after release day

QBs: Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix Jr., Jack Strand, Cooper Rush (4)

It was expected for a while that the Falcons would roster four quarterbacks, especially after Jack Strand's breakout summer proved him too valuable to release, since that would risk another team poaching him. But just because there's four QBs now doesn't mean that it'll stay this way.

RB: Bijan Robinson. Brian Robinson Jr. (2)

The surprise here is Tyler Goodson not making the roster after his strong summer, but I would have to imagine another move at RB is coming. Whether it be someone like Jaydon Blue or just someone like Goodson or Cash Jones going to the practice squad, something will change. Two RBs isn't enough.

WR: Drake London. Jahan Dotson, Zachariah Branch, Olamide Zaccheus, Chris Blair (5)

TE: Kyle Pitts, Austin Hooper, Charlie Woerner (3)

OL: Jake Matthews, Matthew Bergeron, Ryan Neuzil, Chris Lindstrom, Jawaan Taylor, Michael Jerrell, Kyle Hinton, Corey Levin, Ethan Onianwa (9)

When Wanya Morris was released, this became set in stone in Ethan Onianwa's favor.

DL: Gervon Dexter, Brandon Dorlus, Samson Ebukam, Da'Shawn Hand, Zach Harrison, LaCale London, Maason Smith, Za'Darius Smith, Cameron Thomas (9)

With the Gervon Dexter trade, Azeez Ojulari and Chris Williams were on the wrong side of this room's roster bubble.

LB: Divine Deablo, Kendal Daniels, Christian Harris, JD Bertrand, Harold Perkins Jr. (5)

DB: Jessie Bates, Natrone Brooks, Billy Bowman Jr., Sydney Brown, Malcolm DeWalt IV, Mike Ford Jr., DeMarcco Hellams, C.J. Henderson, Mike Hughes, A.J. Terrell, Avieon Terrell, Jammie Robinson, Xavier Watts (13)

Rostering five safeties (six if you include Jammie Robinson) is a surprise, and could be whittled down soon.

ST: Nick Folk, Jake Bailey, Liam McCullough (3)
