1 week till game day

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

Few things get me more excitedthan the start of the regular season. The time when every team is even and when the feeling of optimism is palpable. So let’s get down to the truth here fellow football fanatics. Atlanta is going to suck, sorry folks but it is true, they will. But, does that mean we shouldn’t watch? Hell no it doesn’t.
Matt Ryan is going to be a stud. There I said it, quote me on this one. I won’t go so far to say the guy is the next Manning but the Falcons do have the makings for a [...]

Fantasy Sports Backlash

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

I was looking in the Denver Broncos blog a little while ago and Kim the writer of the blog commented on a site in which a woman talks about being a fantasy widow.
The reason this woman is against fantasy sports is because her husband found something more interesting to him than watching the style network and talking about how Oprah is getting fat….. again.
This stupid site is just proof positive that marriage is just not a good thing for most guys. We can’t do anything we like anymore and suddenly anything that we like or take an interest in is always bad or “stupid.” [...]

Your wish is our command… Horn released from Falcons

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

Joe Horn is a free man. Released from the Falcons his agent is shopping him to teams. I am sure that is more just something said to the media because at this point everyone knows that Horn wants to be a Cowboy.
I can’t say I blame the guy for wanting to leave. I covered all of that stuff before. Now the guy is gone and I say good luck. Best wishes and via con dios or something.

Patriots: The Yankees of the NFL?

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

New England signed John Lynch to a 1 year deal today. Another vet past him prime but looking for that last championship ring.
I can’t blame they guy, Lynch was a GREAT NFL safety and he is giving himself a chance at one last championship. I only ask this one question? Who many old guys do the Patriots need?
The Pats are quickly looking like they may be “jumping the shark” right in front of us. I think they are doing the equivalant of bringing in the cute little kid for the last couple of seasons on a sitcom.

 I have never been a [...]

Falcons Colts Preseason game 2

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Atlanta, Ga 7:30 EST.- The preseson comes to The Dome featuring the Indianapolis Colts. Expectations are high to see further development from the Falcons rookies including Matt Ryan.

Ryan excelled in his first game versus Jacksonville last Saturday and looks to do the same here against a really banged up Colts defense. Colts QB Peyton Manning is still rehabbing his knee so keep an eye on Colts QB Jim Sorgi, he is not a fleet footed guy so I look forward to seeing a strong pass rush to pressure the passer and force mistakes. Jamaal Anderson should continue his positive play from last weekend where he recorded his first sack since [...]

Falcons Jaguars Preseason game 1

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Jacksonville Florida 8/9/08
Two teams in two different positions. The Jags are in the top 4 best teams in the AFC. Atlanta has seen over 50% turnover from last season and is rebuilding.
This game was really well played, from beginning to end by both teams. The Falcons showed up and the rookies really made some pretty memorable plays. The Jags won 20-17 but the story is not in the game it is in the players who played their first game and made me a believer and showed me why I love this team so much.
I will start with Curtis Lofton. This guy reminds me [...]

Player spotlight: Harry Douglas

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Harry Douglas #83 WR R Louisville. 5′11″ 171 lbs.
So far this training camp one of the most talked about rookies by far has been Harry Douglas. Most notably for getting into a minor scrum with Lawyer Milloy. But what is really making people stand up and notice is the fact that he is “working his tail off” to quote Michael Jenkins.
So far Harry is showing how much speed he has and how much dedication he has to both coaches and to the fans and fellow teammates. I like his route running and I will tell you this now. The kid has [...]

Thoughts on the schedule

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

5 days till the first Falcons pre-season game. 5!
I can truly say that if we play well, and the offense can put points on the board (easier said than done, I know). We could actually win 4 games. I know you want to laugh but stick with me for just a minute so that I can prove my point.
Week 1.  Detroit Lions: I love this match up because both teams look pretty similar. Both have questions all over the place but I do give a huge advantage to the receivers for Detroit but the Lions are still the Lions and they always find [...]
