Re-Grading the Falcons Past 5 Drafts

Sometimes, a good way to look ahead is to look at history. Scott Carasik of Bleacher Report takes a look at the past five Falcons drafts, and grades each one.

"“In order to predict the future, you have to scrutinize the effects of the past. When it comes to the Atlanta Falcons’ recent draft history, part of the reason why the team is picking so high this year is due to the past selections that haven’t panned out or stuck with the team.”"

Would Falcons pass on Beasley?

Some mock drafts have the Falcons passing on Clemson’s all-time sack leader Vic Beasley. Would they really overlook him? Vaughn McClure of ESPN takes a look:

"“The most interesting aspect of Thursday’s alternating mock draft between ESPN draft experts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay was the first-round omission of Clemson’s Vic Beasley.Beasley, touted as one of the top edge-rushers in this year’s draft class, actually fell all the way to the fourth pick of the second round — 36th overall to Jacksonville. Kiper’s commentary on his pick, “Can you say steal? I know I have Beasley higher on my board than Todd, but wow. [Amari] Cooper plus Beasley. The Jags got better.”"

Here are highlights from Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff’s press conference yesterday.

"“Falcons head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff addressed the Atlanta media Friday to discuss their plans and philosophies heading into a draft that boasts talent in areas of need.”"
