Atlanta Falcons finally making necessary additions to offensive line

If you’re an Atlanta Falcons fan, it is hard to keep up with all the moves on the offensive line since the last preseason game. But on the same token, it is probably one of the most exciting times in the Thomas Dimitroff era as the necessary moves are finally being made, leaving us all with a heightened level of expectancy.

Before rookie running back Tevin Coleman flashed his ability against the Ravens, the Falcons were silent in addressing the void of offensive linemen. Maybe it was when Coleman broke through the defense for over 56 yards on eight carries that the haze was removed, and the Falcons sobered to the reality that this kid could succeed with better blocking?

Or maybe they realized that Matt Ryan needs to be protected as holes in the offensive line were ripped open by the good defensive fronts of Miami and Baltimore, who were able to get through with ease. Whatever the case may have been, the moves that should’ve been made more than a few years ago to address these concerns were finally made. Now, with new bodies pushing the trenches, this could be a great trend upwards.

As Gino Gradkowsi, Andy Levitre and Bryce Harris shake the buildings as they walk through the halls, the posteriors of Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are welcoming. Nevertheless, these moves indicate that one of the biggest question marks facing the Falcons is being addressed – even if it is done slowly. And though this offensive line may never be the best in the league, mediocrity is like an early Christmas gift rather than being the worst in the NFL.

If a cohesion can be formed from this group, the Falcons may very well be able to compete against the conference foes who salivated over the idea of the knocking Ryan off his rhythm, and now have to worry about the Julio Jones show even more. This is still a work in progress as these men must learn a new scheme, but there must be a sign of relief as it finally appears the front office is willing to make the moves required.

Every player and fan are now awakened as the Falcons may have something even more special brewing in Atlanta, and it is just what the doctor ordered.
