Bad news for the Atlanta Falcons
By Ikaika Hall
Atlanta Falcons will face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. This is perhaps the most important game of the season thus far for the Falcons. But they may have to play without two key defensive members.
On Saturday it was reported that Atlanta Falcons defensive back Brian Poole has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
This comes as bad news, as the Falcons have already stated cornerback Desmond Trufant will not play in Atlanta’s Week 13 contest. Without two key members (Trufant and possibly Poole), the Falcons secondary will have their hands full on Sunday when they will be asked to defend against Minnesota’s highly ranked receiving core.

It remains to be seen who will start in Trufant’s absence, but if Poole is not a go for Sunday, Atlanta will not have many other options. Poole sits behind Trufant on the Falcons depth chart. Without either player, Atlanta will be left with three cornerbacks and four safeties. If in fact Poole is out Sunday, it will be up to these seven members of Atlanta’s secondary to defend against NFC Offensive Player of the Month, Minnesota’s Case Keenum.
Sunday’s showdown is nearly a must win for the Falcons. With five games left in the season, Atlanta can barely afford to lose. There is a tight race in the NFC South and a few other teams within the NFC has knocking on the door of a playoff wild card spot. Currently, the Falcons hold the sixth playoff seed and control their own destiny so as long as they are able to win.
