The Atlanta Falcons try and get themselves in position to win the NFC South. The first step is to beat the Saints, and we predict if they will.

It’s the most important game of the regular season for the Atlanta Falcons as they head to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to play the New Orleans Saints. A win allows them to go for the NFC South title next week, so let’s dive right in and see how the staff members of Blogging Dirty see it all manning out.

Game: Atlanta Falcons (9-5) at New Orleans Saints (10-4)

Breakdown: I’ve said it regarding other games, but I am going to say it again regarding Week 16’s matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. This is the biggest regular season game for the Atlanta Falcons, in terms of measuring their capability.

The Dirty Birds will head into a very hostile environment and challenge a team (Saints) that created three interceptions in their last meeting. Not only that, but Atlanta fumbled the ball towards the end of the game and nearly gave the Saints another opportunity to win or tie. Atlanta will need to play a complete game to win.

They will also need to approach this game as if the playoffs have begun. If the Falcons want to show the world that they are Super Bowl contenders, they will need to defeat New Orleans on Sunday. Simple as that.

However, I do not think Atlanta has it in them. They have chosen to create too many mistakes and inconsistencies. I personally believe the Saints defeat the Falcons by a substantial margin due to New Orleans’ home field advantage. And nothing thus far this season has convinced me that this Falcons team can step-up when it matters.

Atlanta missed a golden opportunity to prove their worth against the Minnesota Vikings, but they failed. I think Week 16’s matchup will prove to be too big of a stage for this 2017 Falcons team. Therefore, all Atlanta Falcons playoff hopes will most likely be placed on a Week 17 win at home against the Carolina Panthers.

Don’t hate the messenger, but I think this will be a brutally ugly one for Atlanta.

*UPDATE*

Last minute change of heart. I have to stick with my team.

Prediction: New Orleans 20, Atlanta 23
