3. Tajae Sharpe isn’t a starting receiver and isn’t able to find separation with any consistency

Sharpe is a depth piece that Atlanta was forced to start this season due to a lack of options. A Julio Jones trade and a surprise Calvin Ridley departure left the Falcons without any clear options. Rusell Gage and Tajae Sharpe were the starters and were forced into a position they shouldn’t have been.

Sharpe made key catches early on in the season but the more tape he put together the more dismal it became. He isn’t able to separate when he is facing a team’s first or second corner. Sharpe is a solid depth piece but Atlanta will have better options at the position in the draft and in free agency.

Sharpe is a former Titan and worked with Arthur Smith when Smith was the OC. This is what likely led to Sharpe being put in a starting position he isn’t capable of keeping. As painful as it may be for Smith it is time to part ways with the veteran receiver.

Another name in the same position group that Atlanta is likely to part ways with is Christian Blake. Atlanta needs to replace Blake and Sharpe with players capable of stepping in when their numbers are called.
