One of the biggest updates from Atlanta Falcons training camp on Monday came courtesy of second-round rookie Avieon Terrell. After having some of his best practices of the summer in recent days, Terrell had a rough day to kick off Week 3--and it had nothing to do with his on-field showing.
During the individual period of practice, 92.9 The Game's Joe Patrick reported that the 21-year-old walked off the practice field into the weight room where he was seen by trainers, but later returned to the field with his helmet in hand--but he never participated in practice again after leaving early.
You'd think that if he was able to return on Monday despite not playing that the Falcons avoided a major injury concern with their prized rookie, but you thought wrong. Patrick reported that Avieon Terrell did not practice on Tuesday and was not spotted on the field in the wake of yesterday's issue.

The Atlanta Falcons are dealing with an injury to rookie CB Avieon Terrell
The Falcons aren't in a position where they can endure any more loss on the defensive side of the football. Yes, they just got Zach Harrison back, but Atlanta lost Jalon Walker to a season-ending ACL tear and Jessie Bates III has been sidelined for the better part of the last week due to a back issue, and Divine Deablo is also banged-up
Losing Terrell, another potential Week 1 starter, is far from ideal, especially since the Dirty Birds have such high hopes for A.J. Terrell's younger brother. He has elite ball skills, is incredibly physical, doesn't often give up the big play, and is versatile enough to play on the outside or in the nickel for a defense.
Unfortunately, we still do not know the extent of the injury or what even happened, but this sounds like the Falcons being patient with still more than a month to go until Week 1. Kevin Stefanski has been cautious with his handling of summer injuries, since the priority is Week 1, not the preseason.
Seeing Terrell be injured at all isn't good, but as far as we know he's out as a precaution since Atlanta wants to keep the Clemson product fresh in camp. Ideally they'd probably like to see him get reps against the Denver Broncos during Friday's preseason opener. With Terrell sidelined, ESPN's Marc Raimondi reported that Darnay Holmes got more work with the first-team defense in the nickel.
The injury bug is hitting the Falcons hard, and since Avieon Terrell is the latest victim, we can be worried, but also grateful that they have enough cornerback depth in his absence--but the last thing this team wants is for him to miss serious time as a rookie.
