AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yes, it is true folks. Your friendly neighborhood dirtybird is flying to Glendale AZ to watch the Atlanta Falcons beat the hell out of the Arizona Cardinals a.k.a. “The someone had to win the NFC West team”.
So anyone else going? I am looking at you Cards fans at Raising ‘Zona!
Let’s meet before the game for a drink! You will need a lot more alcohol to drown the sadness after the Dirtybirds move to the second round! How about a little bet for you guys in Cardinal red? If my Falcons win you guys post a picture of you guys in [...]

Matt Ryan rookie of the year!

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

MATT RYAN: 61% completion percentage, amazing leadership abilities and 16 TDs to 11 int’s and the guy lead his  team to the playoffs.

What else can you say about the guy they call “Matty Ice”? He was a shoe in for the award but it is nice to see it finally announced.
Great work by the Phanatic for his coverage of this story and GO Falcons in ARIZONA!

Coach of the year breakdown

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

So the playoff picture is set and now I would like to move onto an issue I feel very strongly about. The NFL coach of the year award.
Now normally I never care about these things but for once it is my team and a coach whom I love so I am going to throw out some facts about the 3 major candidates and I want to hear from all of you about who you want to win it and why.
Tony Sparano, Dolphins: The Dolphins turned over 60% of their roster and came off of a 1-15 record where it seemed that [...]

Cadillac’s career may be done!

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Injuries | COMMENTS: None Yet

Early reports say that Carnell “Cadillac” Williams tore his patellar tendon midway through the 4th quarter today in the Bucs loss mirroring a similar injury that shelved the talented running back for 18+ months may have  just cost him his career.
First off, let me say that if that is the case that mine and everyone else’s condolences go to the guy and I certainly hope for a speedy recovery and hope that he can suit up for the Bucs or someone else soon.

For the birds!

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, Cardinals are all in the playoffs. Only one team with a bird mascot will not make the playoffs and that of course is the Seahawks.  So what does that mean you may ask? Hell if I know but the Falcons are going to the desert!

Bucs are free, free fallin’

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

I saw something when the Bucs lost to the Falcons in the dome a couple of weeks ago, Warrick Dunn was walking off the field along with his teammates and the thing I noticed was that everyone looked down. Not the usual down because they lost to the Falcons a divisional rival, but they looked defeated. Down. Lost.
Well, the losing ways continued today and I have to say I told you so. I knew this team was in rough shape and I know the importance of  Earnest Graham and his being lost to injury cannot be overstated but damn!
 This is a [...]

Next stop Arizona

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Well, the Panthers did what they were supposed to do and beat the Saints and have the No. 2 seed in the NFC. The Falcons have the No. 5 seed and have a date with the Arizona Cardinals. Now I am not sure if anyone doesn’t know this but I am a resident of Phoenix, AZ and I have never wanted to go to a Cardinals game more in my life!
So, here is the deal I am going to do anything I can to scheme my way into the University of Phoenix Stadium (such a stupid name) and I will [...]

What is the best NFL rivalry?

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

So this weekend holds a couple of interesting inter-divisional rivalries out there: Vikings-Bears, Cowboys-Eagles, Jets-Dolphins, Broncos-Chargers etc. So I thought I would ask a question of the bloggosphere…… What is the best NFL rivalry?
Now, just like any good debate there should be some rules: First, I think that they should be in the same division, afterall how many NFL rivalries exist between inter-divisional teams anyways? Second, there should be some real history behind the rivalry so nothing too new because unless it is really juicy it just isn’t that good if there isn’t a good amount of bad blood.

Who should win league MVP?

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

I have some thoughts about the league. Just observations and random ideas and issues that come sailing in my brain. I welcome challenges and agreements and anything else people want to throw out there so come on and let me know what you think.
I think the best defensive player in the league this year is DeMarcus Ware from the Cowboys. He is relentless and skilled. He plays like a man possessed and he is the best pass rushing linebacker since Lawrence Taylor. When I think of a Hall of Famer it is guys like Ware that come to my mind [...]

Falcons to take NFC South crown?

AUTHOR: placeholder | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

No you did not just read that wrong. The Falcons can actually win the NFC south after the Panthers loss in the New Jersey Meadowlands Sunday night.
This has been a wild ride to be sure but what is most strange of all is that the Atlanta Falcons have a very good chance for a 1st round bye and a guaranteed home game in the Georgia Dome. The reason this is such huge news is because this is the same Atlanta Falcons squad that went 7-1 at home this year.
So here is the deal: Win and then see what Carolina does. The [...]
