Atlanta Falcons: 3 Players who saw their stock drop

2. Dontari Poe, DT
Another guy who failed to show up on the stat sheet in their opening game victory was their high priced free agent pick up — Dontari Poe. The former Kansas City Chiefs nose tackle was supposed to turn this defensive line of the Falcons into a real force, but all he ended up doing is taking up space.

The problem could have been predicted, but since he has a big name many didn’t want to admit it. Poe is not a fit in the system run by the Atlanta Falcons. On top of that, they wanted to change him.
Atlanta signed a mammoth nose tackle and told him to move from the middle of a three-man line and work in tandem with another tackle in a four-man line.
On top of that, they asked him to drop weight — which made little sense as he performed well as a bigger guy for the Chiefs.
Maybe he can work his way into a productive role with the Falcons defense, and head coach Dan Quinn knows what he’s doing more than those of us watching the game. On top of that Poe was credited with four pressures, but $8 million a year indicates more than pressure, he should be able to finish some of those as well. This just never seemed like the best fit and after one game it feels even more like that.
