The Atlanta Falcons are bracing for some serious changes to be made this offseason. Now that they finally found their head coach in Kevin Stefanski, he'll have the opportunity to re-tool the Falcons' roster and coaching staff to his liking to fit his and Matt Ryan's vision for a directionless franchise.

Under the new regime, the Falcons are hoping to break an eight-year playoff drought that has lingered since Ryan was a player. But it'll be an uphill battle, as the Dirty Birds are set to see several key starters hit free agency, and this front office doesn't have the cap space to retain everyone.

One of those players on the chopping block is veteran running back Tyler Allgeier. Allgeier has spent the last three seasons backing up Bijan Robinson, and could look to chase a starting role in free agency later this offseason, meaning the Falcons will have to look for someone to replace him.

Luckily, Stefanski's old team, the Browns, may have dropped the perfect replacement right in his lap in Jerome Ford.

Ford was a 2022 fifth-round pick out of Cincinnati and has been productive before. After Nick Chubb went down in 2023, he ran for 813 yards and four scores, but his role has slowly diminished, especially after the Browns drafted Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 26-year-old is can make an impact as a rusher and receiver, as he combined for 81 receptions in 2023 and 2024 and averaged 5.4 yards per carry last year. He won't play a ton because he'll be behind a generational running back, but his familiarity with Stefanski's system makes him the perfect RB2.

The Falcons could use a short-yardage back who the team can trust to step in if need be, and the Tampa native is just that. Allgeier scored a career-high eight rushing touchdowns this season, but is capable of having a larger role elsewhere, so he'll only be back if they can retain him for cheap.

Ford will likely ink a pretty affordable deal on the open market, unlike Allgeier, who will be a bit more expensive for a change-of-pace back. The BYU product has been intregral to this offense's production since being drafted, but he's not a Bijan or a London to the point where he's irreplaceable.

Ryan and Stefanski know this offense is about to see sweeping changes and adding Ford is a realistic one.
