When the Atlanta Falcons were looking for answers to their wide receiver woes, they searched pretty hard during the 2026 NFL Draft. Not only did they draft Georgia's Zachariah Branch with their third-round pick, they signed three different wideouts immediately after the draft as undrafted free agents.
Those UDFA receivers were Wisconsin's Vinny Anthony, Miami's Keelan Marion, and Minnesota's Le'Meke Brockington. Of those three, Anthony quickly got the most hype due to his versatility, while Marion had intrigue as a return man, but Brockington was always the least intriguing of the three WRs.
While all three of them haven't been setting the world on fire in training camp, the latter just drew the short end of the stick. After the Falcons signed free agent tight end Nick Muse, the team waived Le'Meke Brockington with an injury designation, just like former undrafted linebacker Malik Verdon.

It was always going to be an uphill battle for Brockington to make the roster. The Falcons' receiver room was already crowded enough between the other UDFAs and the many other wideouts they have vying for a roster spot behind Branch, Jahan Dotson, Olamide Zaccheus, and Drake London.
Beating out Anthony and Marion was proving to be a difficult enough task for him, and that didn't account for some of the better-performing WRs the Dirty Birds have. Juice Wells Jr. and Chris Blair, have shined, and Dylan Drummond is still very much in the mix amid the wide-open receiver battle.
During his final season at Minnesota, Brockington caught 46 passes for 484 yards and four touchdowns--and averaged almost 27 yards per kick return. But at 6-foot an 195 pounds, his 4.57 second 40-yard dash left a lot to be desired, especially for a player who will not be used creatively.
Here's the thing with Brockington. He squatted over 600 pounds in college, has elite strength, and is known to be a strong run blocker, but he was never going to be more than a camp body. They only gave him $115,000 in guarantees while Anthony got more than double that in guaranteed money.
The Falcons have been active in recent days, signing Muse, RB Trey Sermon, and edge rusher Cameron Sample in free agency. In turn, they've cut Brockington, Verdon, Troy Andersen, and Jack Nelson, and they activated Jawaan Taylor off active/PUP and Zach Harrison off the active/NFI list.
With all the moves they've made, Atlanta had no choice but to cut the injured Le'Meke Brockington. Even when he was healthy, it's not like he was setting the wide receiver competition on fire. It's just interesting to see them do this before ever giving him a shot to save himself during the preseason.
