The Falcons stunk it up, pure and simple. We had 3 turnovers and only managed 22 points. It is a good thing we played the Chargers who found every way possible to lose this game and bring the birds to an amazing 8-5 record!

I like defensive football and I have admired Monte Kiffin’s brand of defense for many years. And with the news that it appears very likely (almost certain) that Monte will join his son in Tennessee I have to say that I will miss the guy and what he has done for the NFL.

8-4 is possible this week for the dirty birds. Who would have thought that? Not even I did. Most people would have been happy with a 4-8 record for this team after 13 weeks with how these guys were expected to play. But play they have beating division leading Carolina last week and in the thick of an NFC playoff picture that could prove to be the hottest in years.

I think that this has been a great NFL season so far. The Falcons coming back from a 4-12 season last year to legitimate playoff contender being my favorite story (of course). But I want to break down the NFC today because I have a lot on my mind and I want to get it out there.

The 2007 Atlanta Falcons sucked. Sorry folks it’s true. We got killed in a lot of games and things just did not go our way that much, what with Petrino and Vick and only 4 wins……. Whatever! This is why the NFL is the best league on earth. This is why the sport of football is so compelling. This was a game to be remembered in Falcons lore (if there is such a thing) forever.
 The Atlanta Falcons needed to win this thing to keep pace in the NFC South and to send a message that last weeks defeat to the Broncos was a fluke and that these birds deserved to be in this postion.
